Hi Parents,
The next two weeks will be heavily focused on STAAR preparations for math and reading (coming up on 4/24 and 4/25).
This week's subjects:
Writing: an Introduction to Journalism and the writing style of a newspaper reporter
Math: Strategies and practice with multi-step problem solving; review of measurement conversions (standard and metric), and a multiplication quiz (Keep studying those facts!). We are doubling up on Target Math; this is an excellent preparation for the variety of math problems that will be on the STAAR and reinforces so many skills.
Reading: STAAR reading passages requiring inferring, context clues, summarizing, and main idea. Also. Stanford practice passages.
Science: Earthquakes and Tsunamis
Social Studies: The Alamo and San Jacinto Battles
Coming up on Monday, April 16: The district sponsored 4th grade trip to the Museum of Natural Science. A signed permission slip, the Red Roberts shirt, sack lunch and a drink are all that's required. We will leave school about 9:00 and return at 12:45. Many have already returned the permission slip, if you have not please do so soon.
