Happy Super Bowl Sunday to all!

Tomorrow is group picture day; weather permitting it will be taken outside. Individual pictures will follow. Thank you to those who have paid for our upcoming "Jackie and Me" field trip to the Main Street Theater; it is due by February 15.

This week includes:

Writing: focusing on the main idea (also referred to as a "small moment"). Students will practice strategies for staying on topic and how to avoid merely "listing" events.

Reading: Identifying main ideas, using inference skills to determine main ideas, and re-stating main ideas.

Math: rotations, translations, and angles; partial quotients division-part 2. Keep studying those multiplication facts!

Social Studies: catching up on how a bill becomes a law; citizenship, taxes, and voting. We have also been taking time to discuss our read aloud novel "Jackie and Me" as we prepare for the field trip. The students have been having great conversations as we discuss what the "color barrier" is and Jackie Robinson's impact.

Science: the food chain and the food web
