Only 2 days this week and time for a well-deserved holiday break!
Last week, we identified the components of a well-written Expository piece of writing. We learned the need for an introduction, a body with well-defined main ideas, and a conclusion that reiterates the main idea. This week we will spend some time "weeding out" unnecessary details and organizing the writing.
In reading, we learned that inferring is drawing conclusions from evidence presented in the reading and that many times we are like detectives looking for clues to aid in comprehension.
In math, we continue to work with decimals in the tenth and hundredth places and will add the thousandths place this week. We had a lot of fun with money and playing The Price is Right to aid in understanding estimation and addition of decimals.
We are ready for our Chapter 3 Social Studies test on the Early Settlers in Texas. It will be an open book test on Monday.
We continue with measuring matter and the physical and chemical changes of matter in science. We will be doing some in-class experiments on Monday and Tuesday that should be fun!
The most exciting news for the students is we will not have any Spelling or Wordly Wise this week. They will resume after Thanksgiving.
Have a wonderful holiday!
