I hope everyone enjoyed the brief Thanksgiving break and now it's time to get back to work (for 3 weeks!). As we head into December, please be aware we will have our holiday party on Dec. 16 (more details to follow soon) and will have our Winter Break beginning on Dec. 19 and returning to school on Jan. 3.
This week's learning...
Writing: Expository Writing skills of choosing a topic and then the planning and organization of ideas.
Reading: Inferring skills continued, highlighting the evidence leading to answers and book clubs.
Math: Measurement using the metric system and review of decimals as we prepare for Ch. 4 test on decimals.
Social Studies: Explorers have been chosen, research is being collected, and this week we will implement the IIM research method as students list sources and learn what plagiarism is and how to avoid it.
Science: Continuation of Matter with a focus on molecules and comparing/contrasting physical and chemical changes.
This week begins the Homework Holiday and students will be given time in class to do assignments and study for spelling and Wordly Wise. Reading at home will continue as always, as Ms. Graves has said, "Reading is a habit and not homework." They may bring spelling, Wordly Wise, and math home to aid in reviewing for upcoming quizzes/tests.
Have a great week!
