Spring Break is almost over and when we return Monday, we will be "full steam ahead." March 27 and 28 will be STAAR writing and this week we have some exciting activities for the students! Tuesday and Wednesday will be Camp Write-a-Lot which will provide the students with a number of indoor and outdoor activities that will inspire writing and encourage the use of everything we have learned over the year. We (the teachers) are looking forward to this interactive opportunity to write.
As mentioned earlier this month, there will be a strong focus on writing, math, and reading the next few weeks as we prepare for the STAAR. Math this week will review fractions and probability with a test on Friday. Reading will continue to explore poetry terminology and styles. We will also be reading about how the earth was formed as we move forward with "Rock, Rattle, and Roll." The students are enjoying this geology unit and are eager to learn more about Pangea, Plate Tectonics, and the Continental Divide. New words this week will be convergent, divurgent, and transformation as we prepare for earthquakes and volcanoes.
After a few setbacks, we returned safely from Austin with a great deal of knowledge about Texas. It was an educational experience in many ways! Thanks to the parents of Caden, John, Andrei, and Katherine for going with us.
See everyone Monday!
