Happy Halloween! Monday is the last day of October and we move into November with new units of study in math, science, social studies, and also begin our Literature Circles. This week:
*Writing: strong endings and descriptive details in our Personal Narratives incorporating some of the new strategies the teachers learned at our Empowering Writers training last week
*Reading: character traits and analysis of the characters in class novel study of The Tiger Rising and students will begin individual book clubs with independent reading of The Heavenly Village, Zen and the Art of Faking It, or The Vampire's Vacation.
*Math: Unit 3 test on Monday, beginning unit 4 (Decimals) on Tuesday
*Social Studies: beginning chapter 3 (Indians of Texas)
*Science: in class we will learn more about magnets and matter; lab the heating and cooling of matter

Please continue to remind your child to read, study their spelling words, and review Wordly Wise. Thank you to Yumin's mom and Katherine's mom for Field Day refreshments.
