Hello Families,

Week 5 is here already and another busy week it will be. In Writer's Workshop, we will be making revisions to our personal narratives and have our first published piece by Friday. We have been working on "powerful beginnings and satisfying endings" and will address when to begin and end paragraphs as we make the final revisions.
In Reading, we will continue with developing comprehension strategies by applying text-to-text and text-to-world connections. Reminder: we go to the Library every Tuesday so students need to remember their books. Also, every Friday is a Wordly Wise test and I am pleased with the student's efforts on these tests. I hope the word list I give them on Mondays is useful. Please remind your child to fill out the Reading Log nightly (Monday-Thursday) after they read; many are doing this in the morning upon arrival. It should be filled out completely as well.
In Math, we have finished unit 1 (Geometry) and are testing on Monday. We will begin Unit 2: Using Numbers and Organizing Data on Tuesday.
In Science, we go to Lab on Monday and continue with Energy experiments. In class, we continue with the Going Green Planner and the impact of our choices.
Social Studies has us exploring the topography and geography of Texas and the introduction of many geographical terms.
Have a great week!
